Chapter Eight

Sean

It was a long night, and fuck was I sore. I woke up when my phone wouldn't quit buzzing on the nightstand beside me where I'd left it on silent mode before I'd gone to bed last night. I sat up slowly, easing my way to the edge of the bed so that I wouldn't wake my mates.

I grabbed my phone and grabbed my borrowed sweats from the night before as I made my way into the bathroom to relieve my screaming bladder. Once I'd washed my hands, brushed my teeth, and pulled on my sweats, I shoved the phone into my pocket and went in search of coffee.

The pot was easy enough to set up, and I had it brewing within minutes. Finally looking at my phone, I saw that I'd missed several calls from my brother, as well as an entire stream of texts.

Rolling my eyes, I waited until I had coffee in hand before I slipped outside to sit on the porch and return his messages. Taylor answered on the first ring, shrieking into my ear about how long he'd been trying to reach me.

When I mentioned that he was lucky the betas had even delivered my phone to Mikael for me when they'd arrived last night, that shut him up for a minute. But then he began again. I pinched the bridge of my nose and let him vent his worried frustrations. When he'd finished and demanded I put Mikael on the line, I had to tell him the truth. It wasn't like he wouldn't find out soon enough anyway.

“Taylor. Slow down and let me talk, okay? I can't put Mik on the phone, because I'm not with him. I'm at my mate's cabin. It's only about a ten minute run though, so I can go get him if it's urgent.”

My brother was silent for a good thirty seconds. I smiled, as I waited patiently for him to process what I'd said.

“Wait. What? Mate? When did that happen? What the hell is happening up there on that mountain, Sean? Holy shit, big brother! I'm so happy for you! Tell me about your mate, do I know him?”

I chuckled. “Probably not, but remember Karl, Owen and Zane?”

Taylor sucked in a breath. “Nooooo. You're not saying what I think you are? Are you? Seriously? Mr. Prim and Proper has two mates? Like, you're in a menage or triad or threesome or whatever the hell it is that you're calling yourselves?”

“Taylor. Let's go with triad. And yes. But here's the cool part. My alpha mate is a fucking Jaguar shifter! You're going to shit when you see him shift. My omega mate is a nice guy from the den. His name is Colin. I think that he's about your age. His folks own a deli in town.”

Taylor squealed in my ear. “I totally know who Colin is, Sean! He brought me soup when I was pregnant and barely eating! Oh, man. Humans post photos of his soups all over social media.
